Associated with Arte Povera, Giuseppe Penone is an Italian artist whose work derives its vivacity from an interrogation of man and nature. The tree is a central figure in his artistic production. He models and sculpts it, especially in bronze, to establish a link between man and nature, always with the idea of minimal gesture and the notion of contrast with reality. The work of Giuseppe Penone is exemplified in installations and sculptures composed of rich materials: olfactory, organic, malleable... Here the material is not erased in favor of information: it sheds industrial rags to reveal its fertility.
