James Rosenquist is an American pop artist known for his monumental paintings and prints. His sense of scale, simplicity, and impact inherent in large-format images comes from the giant billboards he painted for a living. His method, the montage of figurative fragments found in the most everyday printed environment, is largely intuitive and sometimes does not even require preparatory work on the canvas.
