Bernard FRIZE

" I betray the rules I set for myself as soon as possible, otherwise I get bored. My paintings are born from chaos, from chance. [...] I like depth, coherence, loyalty. Images are essential, but not those that only represent themselves. "

Born in 1954, Bernard Frize began his career as an artist in the 1970s, with a certain desire to renew pictorial abstraction. His painting is imbued with sparkling colors, and often devoid of figurative elements. Bernard Frize likes to create canvases in an almost scientific way, the work resulting only from a defined process. He expresses himself through series of paintings in which he exploits new processes of creation, sequences of operations left to the whim of the unforeseen and the random. The use of several colors is fundamental, he lets the colors mix and match in order to create a colorful and unique diversity. For him, painting resides in the act of painting, he leaves a lot of room for spontaneity, he likes painting in which he has " the least possible decisions to take. "
