" Speed limits space; slowness multiplies it. "
After beginning his artistic career with painting and participating to avant-garde art group Cobra, Pol Bury turned to sculpture in the 1950s. He made this artistic shift following the discovery of Calder's work in 1952. Since, he has been considered as a kinetic art pioneer all around the world. Pol Bury’s work is distinguished by extremely slow movements, almost imperceptible impetuses. Through these settings in motion, Pol Bury plays with our relation time. Almost assuming the approach of an engineer, Pol Bury brings us to an awareness of time without losing the dreamlike and poetic part of his work.
