Serge CHARCHOUNE

"I have always hated drawing. Drawing and painting are, in my eyes, mortal enemies."

Serge Charchoune is a painter and poet of Russian origin who, from his teenage years, saw art as the "domain of ecstasy". From 1952 onwards, in the orgy of colors and signs that flooded painting, his inspiration came from a musical theme that he transposed into paintings with ever more sparse, almost monochrome modulations. Although he would refrain from participating another movement such as cubism or purism, Charchoune would never renounce his membership in Dada, which instills in him the continuous search for new creative inspiration.
