Wim DELVOYE

"No one wants to admit that the strength behind the art is that you can own it."

A major figure on the Belgian art scene, Wim Delvoye is known for his humor, his penchant for technological experimentation, and his rich and varied production. It is difficult to categorize Wim Delvoye's work: it deals with three essential themes that the artist constantly explores and masters. The first axis mainly concerns his work on handicrafts (concrete mixers, trailers, etc.), while the second focuses on more controversial themes relating to pig skins (Art Farm China). Finally, the third axis, the most famous, remains his research on the work Cloaca. Following in the footsteps of Marcel Duchamp and his readymades, the artist questions the materiality of works of art.
